Description
San Felix pier is located 15 kms away fm Pto Ordaz city, the berth consist of a floating wharf, 123 m long and 20 m wide, moored 150 m off the bank and connected with two over-head traveling cranes operating cages able to take a 20 ft container, but maximum weight should not exceed 12 tons as maintenance is doubtful
there are no shore facilities for ldng or discharging, therefore vessel must be fitted with cranes or derricks of a minimum capacity of 5 mt, enabling to place the forklifts inside the holds. Stevedores at san felix are working round the clock, including saturday and sundays, not working on holidays.
The estimated ldng rate at San Felix is 1.000 mt per day based on abv mentioned working hours.
During low water season and specially january, february and march, the depth alongside San Felix pier is less than the channels, sometimes achieving no more than 21 ft.
Therefore, to avoid proximity to shallow waters and gain more depth for loading during the critical stage, we suggest to bring vessel alongside by her starboard side (see picture), however such maneuvering which beyond the normal method of docking require the use of one extra tugboat, with consequent increasing of port costs.
